Plasmid DNA

Optimize your plasmid DNA (pDNA) production for efficient and effective therapeutic use with our development and manufacturing solutions.

Why develop pDNA?

Plasmid DNA is used as a therapeutic in various ways, including:

  • Viral vectors for gene therapies: pDNA can be engineered to carry specific genetic material, such as genes encoding therapeutic proteins, into cells. Delivered to target cells using a viral vector, the therapeutic gene is expressed and the desired therapeutic response is facilitated
  • DNA vaccination: pDNA encoding antigens (e.g., viral proteins) can be directly administered as a vaccine. The pDNA is taken up by cells and the encoded antigen is expressed. This elicits an immune response, generating antibodies and T cells specific to the antigen

Advantages including versatility, efficiency, scalability and specificity make pDNA a critical tool for the treatment of a diverse range of therapeutic indications.

Understanding our pDNA production

Our experience, expertise, and state-of-the-art facilities can deliver high-quality pDNA in high yields ready for your therapeutic application. Used in combination with our AAVENZENE kit, recombinant adeno-associated virus (rAAV) particles that specifically deliver DNA to target cells can be produced. For this kit, custom-designed research-grade plasmids can be tailored to suit any gene of interest.
